Lets talk hookup trips
After motoring that evening we ended up at the Enchanted Islands in Gonzaga Bay, wow that let talk hookup trips is beautiful!
We arrived Friday late afternoon and had no trouble finding a room for four people. I am becoming one of those fisherman.
Wednesday brought a couple of nice YT 30 lbs. A 17 lb cabrilla was caught that day biggest of the trip.
The wind came up a bit Thursday afternoon as we tried dropper loop fishing, a little slow. That is what makes this trip so unique. San Felipe has one main drag, you cannot miss it as it is a very small town. He has this trip down to a science, so if you do not want to think about anything but having a great time you need to book this trip.
The afternoon bite seemed to bring a little more variety of fish caught, Pinto Bass, Pargo, Whitefish to name a few, nothing of any size. With the wind picking up we ended fishing Friday about 10 am and started to head back to San Felipe.
You can load your stuff on the boat Saturday from 10 AM on. Most of the bars and restaurants are located there or within one block.
Another amazing trip is all I can say. Small Yellowtail 5 to 15 lbs and plenty of Cabrilla was the ticket for that morning.
Late night if you are still hungry I would highly recommend the street tacos…. After leaving La Guarda Island we headed north to the coastline. Tony and his crew were very nice and always willing to help out with whatever you needed.
We motored all day and night about 18 hrs down to Baha de San Rafael arriving around 8 am Monday morning. Longfin Tackle in Orange, CA handles all to bookings.
There was also a 32 lb Yellowtail and an 18 lb Cabrilla landed that day. This was my first visit to San Felipe, Mexico. Yellowtail and cabrilla kept us busy for the next day and a half, fishing Isla San Esteban and San Lorenzo. We caught them on the troll and casting my favoritethey just bit.
I also caught two 15 lb Cabrillas on my new Tranx Christmas Island Rodeo-May 17 to 24,
